History

The origins of Sungai Serabek

Sungai Serabek is one of 25 villages in Teluk Keramat District and has existed since the era of the Sambas Sultanate. The village is named after the Serabek River, which flows past the hamlets of Dungun Condong and Teluk. At the initiative of community leaders, the two hamlets were merged to form Sungai Serabek Village.

On 9 November 1987, the merger was formalised by Decree of the Governor of West Kalimantan No. 353 of 1987 on Village Arrangement. Sungai Serabek now consists of three hamlets: Teluk Kalong, Dungun Condong and Teluk Keramat, with the seat of government in Teluk Keramat.
