Sambas Regent Hands Over Farm Machinery at Sungai Serabek Rice Harvest

Sambas Regent Satono symbolically handed over agricultural tools and machinery (alsintan) to the farmers’ association in Sungai Serabek Village, Teluk Keramat District, on Friday (1 December 2023). The handover took place during the harvest of Inpari 32 rice.

According to the Regent, the aid is meant to support farmers and to show the government’s appreciation for their role in food security.

He praised the hard work of Sambas residents in agriculture, which provides a livelihood for about 70 percent of the population and is supported by extensive paddy fields. The Regent also said Sambas farming held up through the El Niño season, allowing harvests to continue, unlike several other regions hit by drought.
